Goals and Objectives

The goal of the Partnership is to demonstrate significant reductions in community substance abuse, related risk factors and attendant problems through community development and systemic change.

We support of community involvement and empowerment efforts at the grassroots level to:
  • improve the health status and reduce alcohol and other      drug-related risks by altering environments through     community-initiated changes;
  • delay or eliminate experimentation and use of alcohol and other by youth and other at-risk populations;
  • improve understanding of prevention concepts through coalition building and knowledge through coalition building, dissemination and exchange.
In order to reach this goal the Partnership is committed to operating a coalition of community partnerships that can design and implement substance abuse prevention activities to address the needs of the communities. We have seven objectives.
  1. To change community norms, attitudes and policies so as to promote community health, safety and substance abuse prevention.
  2. To reduce other problems linked to substance abuse such as truancy, runaways, delinquency, adolescent pregnancy, domestic violence and others.
  3. To reduce the rate of substance abuse-related crime in the community.
  4. To reduce the incidence of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use among children and adolescents in the community.
  5. To reduce the rates of community alcohol, tobacco and other drug related deaths. injuries and illnesses especially among children, adolescents, young adults and other identified high-risk populations in the community.
  6. To decrease the rate of community health problems related to and exacerbated by alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, including mental illness.
  7. To reduce the rate of job-related problems and injuries stemming. from substance abuse in the community.
