About Us

The Philadelphia Prevention Partnership is a coalition of community partnerships sharing the common goal of preventing substance abuse (alcohol, tobacco and other drugs) in the long term throughout the city. Prevention is built on relationships and intom1ation. The Partnership is building relationships between and among individuals, families, agencies, organizations and ethnicities; and, providing training and information.

An important gap addressed by the Partnership structure is that of reaching cultural groups who tend to work only within their own systems. Through three initiatives. the Institute for African American Mobilization. the Latino Partnership Initiative and United Northeast Neighbors, the Partnership is supporting community-based efforts and developing the increasingly important role in city-wide substance abuse prevention efforts by the Latino, African-American and poorer European-American communities.

All three of these groups arc represented on the Partnership’s advisory board, insuring an active coalition around prevention issues that is an integrated, multi-cultural, multi-pronged effort.
